Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the websites, applications, and services operated by PorchLight Home Services ("PorchLight," "we," "us," or "our"). By creating an account, booking a job, or otherwise using our services, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

1. What PorchLight does

PorchLight is a marketplace that connects homeowners, rental property managers, and commercial property managers ("Customers") with independent, licensed and insured service contractors ("Contractors"). We publish posted prices for defined scopes of work, facilitate bookings, process payments, and provide account support. PorchLight is not a general contractor and does not itself perform the home-repair work. Contractors are independent businesses, not employees or agents of PorchLight.

2. Accounts and eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old and able to form a binding contract to use PorchLight. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide and for keeping your account credentials secure. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Bookings, posted prices, and scope

Each posted price covers a specific, defined scope of work. The price is locked at booking and includes labor, materials, and the platform fee as shown before you confirm. If a Contractor identifies work genuinely outside the booked scope after arriving on site, you will be asked to approve any change before additional work proceeds. We do not add change orders without your approval.

4. Payments

Payment is collected through our third-party payment processor. By booking a job you authorize us to charge your selected payment method for the posted price and any approved changes. Funds for the balance of a job are released to the Contractor after you approve completion in the app. Refunds and rebookings are handled by our account team as described in your guarantee.

5. Guarantees

Eligible jobs booked through PorchLight are backed by a $1M general liability policy, a 12-month workmanship guarantee from completion, and a 60-day satisfaction window. These guarantees cover defects in how the work was performed within the original scope. They do not cover ordinary wear, misuse, pre-existing conditions, or work outside the booked scope. The full terms of each guarantee are presented at the time of booking.

6. Customer responsibilities

• Provide safe, reasonable access to the property at the scheduled time.
• Disclose known hazards or conditions relevant to the work.
• Inspect and approve completed work promptly in the app.
• Treat Contractors professionally and lawfully.

7. Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse the platform, interfere with its operation, attempt to circumvent fees by transacting with Contractors off-platform for work introduced through PorchLight, or use the service for any unlawful purpose. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available." To the fullest extent permitted by law, PorchLight disclaims all warranties not expressly stated here and is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law, including the guarantees described above.

9. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, communicated to you. Your continued use of the platform after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
